Nearly 3K Hands Later

10NL : 2559 hands / (1.72) BB/100 / ($8.82)
25NL : 149 hands / (12.38) BB/100 / ($9.22)
Feelin' pretty good. Mostly the winrate has been owned due to poor PF decisions -- I looked at my HH for these sessions from 10/9 until now, and the big hand losses are:

KK > AA aipf
KK > QQ aipf
AQ > AK: 3bet PF, he calls in position, board comes KJT. I bet, he shoves. EZ fold. I call. Doh.
89 > JJ on 9 high flop. AI, straight. GG
K9 > A9. We get it all in on a 9-high flop. K river. GG.
AQ > KK aipf
AQ > JJ aipf

thats about ($80) right there. Obviously not running hot. Been sitting down to tables and going down 2-3 BIs and then digging myself out. Obviously not spending enough time breathing in / building image before playing for big pots. Sometimes it's unavoidable, though.

Three times a tilting DONKEY came to bat AIPF and actually had a hand. I've watched a guy obviously steaming and shoving, steaming and shoving, and waited for my piece of the pie. QQ, finally!! Nope, he's got AA this time. He continues to shove any ace, and any king PF, in a desperate effort to recoup his losses. KK!! Dammit!! He showed up with AA again!! AKs!!! DAMMIT! AA again!!

LOL

I had my own suckouts, though.

JJ > AA, was 3bet PF, call in position and flop a J. Weeee.
AK > QQ AIPF

Wow, I'm looking back over my HH and seeing how many times I'm stacking people for like, half a stack. Or 2/3 a stack. But when I'm getting stacked, it's usually for a full stack. Goddamn halfstackers. I guess it makes sense -- the people most likely to beat me in a hand are the ones with MORE MONEY.

Is that table selection? Maybe it's time for me to leave the UB and go to Full Tilt or Stars to play. 10nl is not where the action is, it's dominated by about 10 regulars, myself included. They're the ones that always make sure they have a full stack in play. I end up busting the donks, who roll with their 30-70BB stack in the hope of 'saving money'.

Seriously considering dumping more loot in to jump to 25NL. Game has so many holes right now, though. I mean, I can't guarantee a winrate at 10nl? shit.

P.S.

I'm successfully 3-tabling with a buttload of overlap on my laptop. Lols.

Comments:
People always say to cool it when you sit at the tables -- but it takes a few times getting burned to understand why. I sat and played some $100NL heads-up last night -- first hand outta the gate, I have TT. I raise my button and get called. flop comes 5h6hQx, pretty safe for HU. he checks, I bet; he check-raises me for 2.5x. calling here is okay (uh, i think?) as the flop is rather dry and it's a heads up pot. he bets 1/2 pot on brick (2)turn. i STILL dont believe him. i call. he bets the river also for 1/2. i'm still not believing him, first hand outta the gate and he's acting super aggro. BUT, it's the first hand out!!! i have no clue what he plays like. i chalk up my turn call to a spew and fold. it turns out that this guy is a SUPER nit (i find out through the next 50 hands). he's folding almost everything preflop and OOP. moral of story, i had no frame of where he was coming from and was only thinking of him as super aggro opponent. i ran hot and beat his ass for the rest of the session. w00t.

okay, so you're thinking of switching. FINALLY. both sites are great, and i'm in process of seeing how the rakeback compares. here's what you need to do:

1. read verneer's blog. his current one is linked on my blog; this is his "old" one: http://10000hands.blogspot.com/2007/09/10nl-update.html i'm not sure if you're aware of what he did, but basically his curiosity took him back down to 10NL after he was winning at 400NL to help him improve and understand other players while retooling his game a bit. anyway, it's exactly what you should be reading.

2. i'll send you the emails i promised you last night. digest those. you and i need to be going through a very similar exercise.

3. get professional no limit hold'em and USE IT to reframe your in-game thought process. single table for a while and focus on your opponents range.

4. if you're going to move sites (god, please do) and deposit to play for $25nl, i'd suggest setting aside $500 total, then move up to $50nl when you have $2000.

5. ask questions, ask questions, ask questions. more information makes you smarter. there isn't just one way to play winning NLHE, there are many.

i'll comment on the below just cause i feel like it:
1. cooler
2. possibly cooler, player / stack dependent
3. player / stack dependent (i'm very often calling here for 100bb stacks at this level)
4. puke
5. blech, not sure if i like getting it all in here. depends on stacks / player
6. barf
7. barf on you if you got it AIPF for 100bbs, if 50bbs and below, cooler
